My BIO
R. J. Jeffreys is a Boston, Massachusetts-based poet, writer, editor, podcast host and producer, public speaker, and writing coach and mentor whose work moves across poetry, fiction, conversation, and creative guidance.
As a contributing editor and radio interview producer for Tiferet Journal and Author magazine, and host of The Write Step with R. J. Jeffreys, he has created space for meaningful dialogue with notable writers, artists, thought leaders, and other creative voices.
Through his work on his various shows, he has interviewed distinguished poets, USA Today and New York Times best-selling authors, Pulitzer Prize winners, U.S. Poet Laureates, and internationally recognized thought leaders. He has also had the honor of twice being interviewed on PBS’ National Public Radio (NPR).
His various works include poetry, prose, and dramatic work, and his career has also extended into editing, ghostwriting, and digital media production. Across each role, his work reflects a lasting commitment to storytelling, artistic exchange, and helping writers bring their work more fully into the world.
Jeffreys’ literary career began early in life: his first poem was published by the Library of Congress at age 15, and his first play, Mort, was professionally staged at the Actors Workshop in Boston at 26. He also helped create a vibrant public celebration of poetry and community by organizing and hosting the Massachusetts chapter of 100 Thousand Poets for Change at the Boston Public Library, part of the largest poetry event ever in history — a global event now archived by Stanford University.
Alongside his own writing, he continues to mentor and support other authors as an editor, consultant, and creative guide. He studied English and Psychology, with a minor in Music Theory, and pursued graduate-level study in Psychophysiology.
When not deep in work and projects, he enjoys reading, creating videos and digital art, practicing Tai Chi, listening to great music, and playing his classic Fender Jazz bass guitar.
